Abby M. Taylor
Founder

I am a second generation art dealer and I owe all the foundations and instincts I have to my father, Donald Purdy.  He did business from home and I had to sit through many meals and weekends of him, hashing out deals with other dealers and clients.  He is the greatest “trader” ever, a quick thinker and creative businessman.

In 1989 I opened The Greenwich Gallery with Vincent Vallarino and spent 17 years building a solid business in American and European paintings.  In 2003 I established a sculpture division with the goal to be a prominent dealer in museum quality American and European sculpture.  In 2006 I opened Abby M. Taylor Fine Art LLC across the street from our old location.  My old Achilles heel of not being narrowly specialized became the strength of the new gallery.  We have a global business with many of our sales occurring outside the United States.  My primary achievement is my longstanding client relationships.  What motivates me is the act and process of what we do and the pride that comes with doing something well and differently.

Susan VP. Barrett
Director, Client Relations

Art has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My great grandparents were avid collectors of 19th Century European paintings and French Furniture and even had a single owner sale of their collection in 1921 in New York City at the Anderson Galleries later to become the American Art Association and then the Parke-Bernet Galleries, a precursor to Sotheby’s today. They passed their love and appreciation for art onto my grandparents and parents who chose to collect 19th and 20th Century European and American paintings as well as English furniture. As a child I kept my reading books next to my bed in an English mahogany wine cellarette, while my record player sat firmly atop a Queen Anne drop leaf breakfast table. Trips to the circus at Madison Square Garden were often preceded by stops at the Metropolitan Art Museum or some art gallery. It was a natural consequence then for me to study Art History at the University of Pennsylvania. I was employed from 1989 until 2009 at Sotheby’s in the Client Services Division. What I enjoy most is working with clients to find those works of art that will enrich their homes and their lives.

Mia Forte
Creative Director

From a very early age, I have been fascinated by the arts and creative expression.  I received my BA from the University of Connecticut where I studied Sociology, Psychology, Fine Arts and Graphic Design.  I recently completed professional certification in Graphic Design Production from New York University.

I came to the gallery with eight years of professional experience in creative management and initially began working here as a design and photography freelancer.  Today, as Creative Director, I oversee all marketing and advertising initiatives, photography, graphic design and website management. I am fortunate to work surrounded by beautiful art, a wonderful team and an abundance of creative energy.
