"Passage Idyllique" is the type of painting that gained Hippolyte Petitjean his greatest notoriety. As with this work, Hippolyte Petitjean's subjects were often of bathers and typically had a mythological ambiance. The paint has been applied with modular brushwork in high-keyed colors, and there is a simplification of surface pattern; all of which are typical of the Neo-Impressionists.
