"Summer in the Berkshires" is an exceptional example of Arthur Parton’s later Barbizon landscape style. Arthur Parton had a distinctive clarity of light that often pervaded his skies which is the primary allure of his scenes. Here the green of the landscape, while lush is mostly there as a foil to the brilliancy of light in the sky and reflections in the water.
